Lead Instrument & Controls Engineer ( Greenfield)

Role Overview

Lead Instrument & Controls Engineer (Greenfield) at Wood PLC. This is a greenfield project role providing technical leadership in instrumentation and controls engineering design and execution.

Role Purpose

Provide comprehensive technical expertise and leadership in instrumentation design, ensure compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards, and coordinate instrumentation engineering activities across the integrated project management team, EPC contractors, and ADNOC stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation Design & Technical Leadership

• Provide technical expertise in all instrumentation design activities.
• Perform regular and timely technical reviews of instrumentation engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants and contractors.
• Ensure design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
• Ensure integration of overall instrumentation engineering across the IPMT instrumentation engineering team.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of engineering consultant and EPC contractor instrumentation engineering design activities.
• Review and approve engineering consultant and EPC contractor work.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes, standards, and best industry practices.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards.
• Ensure that facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.

Project Coordination & Integration

• Coordinate, monitor, and handle instrumentation design and engineering with EPC contractor as per project expectation and within agreed time frames.
• Ensure full utilization of existing facilities while optimizing facilities required for new projects.
• Coordinate the required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models.
• Contribute input and expertise in the development and analysis of various design options and business models to design optimization and validation.
• Participate in teams for equipment sizing and equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.
• Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation and performance evaluation.

Technical Reviews & Engagement

• Participate in layout reviews, model reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.
• Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC contractor, ADNOC Engineering, Operations, and Site Interface to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure quality discipline engineering execution and integrity.
• Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
• Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

• Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization.
• Interface with Managers, Team Leaders, and Engineers in the Company's Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department.
• Interface regularly with contractor's engineering and project management team and discipline engineers as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.

• Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
• Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing, and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.
