Role Overview
Lead - Fabrication and Construction Planning at Wood PLC. This role leads the Project Construction team to support project objectives and strategies, with accountability for planning, execution, and oversight of all construction activities.
Role Purpose
Lead the construction organization and manage contractor execution efforts to ensure safe, compliant, and strategic delivery of fabrication and construction work aligned with project objectives and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead the Project Construction team to support objectives and strategies.
- Establish a construction organization to implement the Project execution plans and procedures and coordinate resourcing of construction team positions.
- Clearly communicate direct reports short term and long-term goals that support the project objectives.
- Take a leadership role in mentoring and training UAE Nationals in construction management.
- Encourage and recognize outstanding performance, and ensure that staff are appraised regularly and developed accordingly.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion safety in all construction aspects of the Project and promote the safety objective that "Nobody gets Hurt".
- Ensure that the Contractor and Subcontractors are compliant with project safety expectations, policies and procedures.
- Assist in the review and implementation of all Contractor safety plans.
- Steward the development of an Integrated Safety Plan for Construction, including SIMOPS for all island and brownfield work.
Construction Planning & Execution
- Manage the Construction teams responsible for the planning, development and operations to ensure construction execution.
- Manage the Contractor's construction planning and execution efforts to ensure compliance with Project objectives, strategies, obligations and requirements.
- Provide construction and execution strategy support to the Project Team through construction oversight and assistance.
- Ensure that the detailed design deliverables support constructability.
- Lead construction planning teams to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities.
- Sponsor construction related readiness reviews, constructability workshops and CERs.
Stakeholder Management & Interface
- Steward interfaces and interactions between the Contractor and other UZ Projects, Production Operations, and Drilling.
- Manage the interface with ADNOC to execute brownfield works in order to minimize disruption in ongoing production operations.
Reporting & Performance
- Report on construction progress, performance, initiatives and issues to the Project Team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Master's degree in management or equivalent.
- Minimum 15+ years' experience within the oil & gas sector, with broad Construction Management experience on major projects.
- Experience with contractors and suppliers worldwide.
- Experience in the recruitment and development of technical staff.
