Role Overview

Kitchen Hood & Duct Cleaning Technician at Al Shirawi Group, Service department.

Role Purpose

Perform full cleaning and maintenance of commercial kitchen exhaust systems, ductwork, and related components in compliance with NFPA 96 standards while ensuring safety and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning Operations

• Perform full cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust hoods, ductwork, exhaust fans, and filters in accordance with NFPA 96 standards.
• Remove grease buildup from all accessible duct surfaces using mechanical and chemical methods.
• Set up and operate cleaning equipment including pressure washers, steam cleaners, rotary brush systems, and vacuum units.
• Solve on-site cleaning and access challenges including tight spaces, complex duct routing, and heavy buildup.

Inspection & Compliance

• Inspect hood systems for damage, corrosion, or fire safety concerns such as blown fusible links and damaged grease cups.
• Take before and after photos and maintain detailed service reports for client and compliance records.

Safety & Maintenance

• Follow strict safety protocols for chemical handling, hot work, and working at heights.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure proper chemical dilution and disposal per local regulations.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of grease fire hazards and prevention methods.

Client & Operations Coordination

• Coordinate with kitchen staff to schedule cleaning during off-hours (nights and weekends) to avoid disruption.
• Communicate professionally with restaurant and client staff.

Qualifications & Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in kitchen hood and duct cleaning.
• Valid Kuwait transferrable visa and Kuwait driving license.
• NFPA 96 awareness or certification required; OSHA or equivalent safety training preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Technical knowledge of grease extraction systems, exhaust fans, filters, fire suppression interface, and ductwork cleaning methods.
• Ability to operate pressure washers, steam cleaners, rotary brush systems, vacuum units, and chemical degreasers safely.
• Ability to work at heights using ladders and scaffolding.
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as ducts.
• Ability to work in hot and greasy environments.
• Physical capability to lift up to 25 kg.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Attention to safety in electrical and refrigerant handling.
• Basic Arabic language ability.
• Good communication skills with clients and team members.
• Professional demeanor.
