Role Overview

German International School Abu Dhabi (GISAD) seeks an experienced Spanish teacher (local hire) for Secondary I and/or II, full-time or part-time, starting 01.08.2026.

GISAD is a recognized German international school with approximately 550 students from kindergarten through Abitur. The school was rated by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge in summer 2021 as one of the best schools in Abu Dhabi and holds the "Excellent German International School" seal awarded by the Federal-Länder inspection. The school accepts up to eight Emirati children per year in an integration program beginning in kindergarten.

Role Purpose

To establish and teach Spanish in Secondary I beginning in grade 6 and/or Secondary II, providing students with foundational language acquisition through engaging and well-structured instruction while supporting the school's integrative approach and multilingual environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction

• Deliver Spanish instruction in Secondary I
• Prepare and accompany performance assessments and examination formats
• Employ modern teaching methods and digital tools

Curriculum & Development

• Collaborate on curriculum development, teaching materials, and school-internal agreements
• Participate in instructional innovation projects

School Community

• Actively participate in school life including projects, excursions, and extracurricular activities

Qualifications & Experience

• Teacher certification with second state examination (Zweites Staatsexamen) for Spanish at Secondary I and/or II level, or equivalent recognized qualification

Skills & Competencies

• Readiness for teamwork to ensure cooperative and effective school operations
• High sense of responsibility and professionalism in interaction with students, colleagues, and parents to create a secure learning environment
• Openness to innovation and willingness to integrate new teaching methods and actively shape the school's development
