Infrastructure Inspector - Wet Utilities

Role Overview

Infrastructure Inspector – Wet Utilities at AECOM in Abu Dhabi. This role joins an infrastructure project team overseeing wet utilities and infrastructure construction.

Role Purpose

Inspect, monitor and verify wet utility construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project requirements. Coordinate quality assurance activities and maintain records across stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation and associated networks.

Key Responsibilities

Site Inspection & Monitoring

• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.
• Inspect and monitor wet utility construction works, including stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, and associated networks.
• Inspect the installation of pipelines, manholes, catch basins, gullies, drainage structures, chambers, and associated works.
• Inspect sewerage, potable water, irrigation, and stormwater networks and related structures as required.
• Monitor the Contractor's compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, and quality requirements.

Quality Assurance

• Monitor the quality of materials, workmanship, installation, bedding, backfilling, compaction, and protection of wet utility networks.
• Ensure construction works comply with approved shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Identify defective or non-compliant works and coordinate with the Engineer and Contractor for corrective actions.
• Verify line, level, alignment, slopes, and invert levels of pipelines and associated structures.

Testing & Verification

• Witness and inspect testing activities, including pressure testing, leakage testing, CCTV inspection, and other applicable tests.
• Review and verify Inspection Requests (IRs) submitted by the Contractor and ensure works are ready for inspection.

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with surveyors and other disciplines to ensure correct setting out, levels, and alignment.
• Coordinate with the Engineer and Contractor regarding defective or non-compliant works and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, site activities, testing, and quality-related issues.
• Participate in site meetings and coordination activities as required.
• Support the Engineer in monitoring construction progress and quality of the works.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Ensure health, safety, and environmental requirements are followed during site activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in wet utilities and infrastructure construction.
• Good knowledge of stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation networks, and associated infrastructure works.
• Experience in inspecting pipelines, manholes, drainage structures, chambers, and associated infrastructure works.
• Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and inspection procedures.
• Experience working with Contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• UAE infrastructure and Authority experience is preferred.
