HVAC Technician at AtkinsRéalis. The role installs, operates, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential, commercial, or industrial facilities, ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.

Role Purpose
To install, test, commission, maintain, and repair HVAC systems across residential, commercial, and industrial facilities while ensuring compliance with HSE standards, local codes, and project quality requirements. The technician diagnoses faults, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, and coordinates with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to keep systems operating at peak efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Install, test, and commission HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, DX units, and VRF/VRV systems.
- Install split and packaged units, exhaust and fresh air systems.
- Ensure refrigerant charging, pressure testing, vacuuming, and leak detection are conducted properly.
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to established schedules.
- Diagnose system faults and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
Technical & Operational
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements for efficiency.
- Maintain service reports, maintenance logs, and records.
Compliance & Coordination
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, local codes, and project quality requirements.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or ITI in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–7 years of hands-on HVAC experience in project or facilities-based settings.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Experience in GCC/UAE projects preferred.
- Familiarity with international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, CIBSE) preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- HVAC installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of refrigerants and handling procedures.
- Ability to work from drawings and method statements.
- Basic electrical and control panel knowledge.
