HVAC Draftsman and Technical Coordinator

Role Overview

HVAC Draftsman and Technical Coordinator at Al Shirawi Group. This role supports the Sales & Projects team through the preparation of HVAC shop drawings, material submittals, and bills of quantities for various projects.

Role Purpose

To deliver accurate, code-compliant HVAC technical documentation and design coordination that enables sales, procurement, and production teams to execute projects on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

• Develop detailed HVAC shop drawings using AutoCAD based on design and site requirements.
• Extract quantities of ducting, piping, grilles, and other HVAC components from drawings.
• Update and revise drawings as per site conditions and design changes.
• Ensure HVAC designs adhere to relevant standards, codes, and project requirements.

Material & Estimation

• Prepare HVAC material submittals in line with project specifications.
• Assist in bill of quantities (BOQ) and material take-off preparation for estimation and procurement.
• Provide related coil details to sales team as per customer query.
• Operate coil selection program (Win Coil) and provide support to sales and customer.
• Create item codes in ORACLE for make items, routing, and attach BOM template.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical support to sales team and customer.
• Send drawings to sales personnel for customer approval.
• Follow up with customer for approved drawings.
• Plan site visits as per job card or sales team requirements.
• Allocate sites to junior draftsman for visit and update status in production plan.

Operational & Quality Management

• Review status of pending drawings, site visits, and technical issues with project manager.
• Release drawings and CNC program to shop floor as per production plan.
• Perform performance review and internal training of draughtsman.
• Involve with production and QA for process improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in HVAC drafting and design.
• Experience in preparing BOQs and material take-offs.
• Familiarity with HVAC codes and standards is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in AutoCAD for HVAC shop drawing preparation.
• Strong understanding of ductwork layout, pipe routing, and HVAC component placement.
• Strong ability to read and interpret HVAC design and construction drawings.
• Proficiency in Win Coil (coil selection program).
• Proficiency in ORACLE.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to timelines.
