Role Overview

Human Resources Manager at IHG Hotels & Resorts. The role is based at a hotel location, reporting to the General Manager and leading the hotel's Human Resources function.

Role Purpose

Lead the hotel's people agenda and ensure a great place to work where colleagues feel welcomed, recognized, supported and able to perform at their best. You will deliver the hotel's HR strategy while managing day-to-day Human Resources operations, from recruitment and colleague relations to engagement, development, compliance and workforce planning, supporting the hotel's operational and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic People Management

  • Lead the hotel's Human Resources function, partnering with the General Manager and Department Heads to deliver the people strategy and support overall business objectives.
  • Oversee the complete colleague lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through development, engagement and recognition to resignation, transfer or separation.
  • Lead performance and talent management, including performance reviews, succession planning, internal development, promotions, transfers, cross-training and career development.

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Manage recruitment, selection, onboarding and workforce planning, ensuring the hotel attracts, develops and retains the right talent while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
  • Monitor headcount, manpower productivity, HR budgets and labour costs, working with Department Heads on vacancy management, scheduling, cross-deployment and effective workforce utilisation.

Colleague Relations & Wellbeing

  • Oversee colleague relations, providing guidance on performance, grievances, disciplinary matters, investigations and workplace concerns while ensuring fairness, confidentiality and consistency.
  • Drive colleague engagement, recognition and wellbeing, including colleague surveys, action plans, Town Halls, recognition programmes, celebrations and initiatives that strengthen workplace culture.
  • Champion IHG's inclusive culture and responsible business commitments, supporting Giving for Good, community partnerships, local talent development and other colleague initiatives.

Learning & Development

  • Partner with Learning & Quality to identify training and development needs, ensuring mandatory learning, leadership development and hotel training initiatives are effectively delivered.

Payroll & Administration

  • Oversee payroll-related HR processes, attendance, leave, benefits and colleague movements, ensuring information is accurate, properly authorised and processed on time.
  • Manage HR policies, colleague records, audits and compliance requirements, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring corrective actions are completed when required.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with Kuwait Labour Law, government requirements, IHG policies and brand standards, working closely with Government Relations on work permits, residency and other colleague documentation.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare and analyse key HR reports and people metrics, including headcount, vacancies, turnover, absenteeism, leave, recruitment and engagement, using insights to support management decisions.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop the HR team, ensuring a professional, approachable and efficient HR service for all colleagues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • 3 years previous experience in Human Resources, administration or hotel operations; previous hotel HR experience is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of general HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, attendance, payroll support and colleague relations.
  • Knowledge of Kuwait Labour Law and local employment practices is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Good administrative and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues at all levels and from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Comfortable working with HR systems and digital platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work accurately within deadlines.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism.
  • A positive, approachable and service-oriented personality.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of the HR and hotel team.
