Role Purpose
The Hostess is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first impression and managing the front-of-house dining experience. The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and genuine commitment to guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Reception and Seating
- Welcome guests warmly and escort them to their assigned tables
- Manage restaurant reservations, cancellations, table assignments, and special requests
- Monitor guest flow and organize waiting lists during busy periods
- Conduct table visits and coordinate with the team to ensure guest satisfaction
Service Coordination
- Answer telephone enquiries professionally and according to service standards
- Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly to enquiries, and assist with resolving concerns
- Work closely with colleagues to deliver friendly, efficient, and professional service
Operations and Maintenance
- Maintain accurate knowledge of restaurant layouts, operating hours, menus, promotions, and hotel services
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-presented hostess desk and dining area
- Support menu preparation, cashiering procedures, and restaurant operations when required
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year's experience as a Hostess or in a similar food and beverage role
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage service
- Basic computer skills
Skills & Competencies
- Good verbal communication skills in English; additional languages (Arabic, Russian) are an advantage
- Strong guest service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage busy service periods, waiting lists, reservations, and changing guest requirements
- Demonstrates teamwork, professionalism, and a warm, guest-focused approach
- Pleasant, professional, and well-groomed appearance
- Maintains a professional appearance and high standards of personal hygiene
