Role Overview
Head Barista at Marriott. The position is responsible for cafΓ© operations, cash management, team leadership, and guest service excellence.
Role Purpose
Lead cafΓ© operations by managing cash handling and reconciliation, overseeing opening and closing procedures, training and coaching staff, and delivering exceptional guest service in alignment with Marriott standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Setup
- Complete opening and closing duties, including setting up necessary supplies and tools and cleaning all equipment and areas.
- Secure doors at closing.
- Record transactions in MICROS system at time of order.
- Complete all closing reports, including MICROS reports.
Cash Management & Reconciliation
- Obtain change required for expected business level and keep bank secure at all times.
- Count bank at end of shift and complete designated cashier reports.
- Resolve any discrepancies between expected and actual cash counts.
- Drop off receipts according to company procedure.
- Transport bank to and from assigned workstation.
- Resolve any cash overages or shortages as requested by Accounting.
Team Leadership & Development
- Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees.
- Serve as a role model for staff conduct and performance.
- Support team to reach common goals and develop positive working relationships with others.
Guest Service
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
- Anticipate and address guests' service needs.
- Assist individuals with disabilities.
- Thank guests with genuine appreciation.
- Communicate with guests and other employees using clear and professional language.
- Answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all company, safety, and security policies and procedures.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
- Complete safety training and certifications.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Protect company assets.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
General Duties
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Related Work Experience: At least 1 year of related work experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with MICROS point-of-sale system.
- Cash handling and reconciliation.
- Team leadership and employee coaching.
- Guest service and communication.
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 10 pounds or less without assistance.
