Role Overview
General Accounting Specialist/Accountant at Abdul Latif Jameel, a diversified business group operating across the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENAT) region.

Role Purpose
Ensure accuracy and adequacy of supporting documents in the processing of financial transactions. Coordinate with different finance departments to reconcile financial data according to accepted accounting principles and standards. Inform Accounts Managers of operational anomalies and support the delivery of reliable financial reports to department and corporate management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Closing
- Assist in the preparation of management accounts, fund flow statements, and annual budgets.
- Manage suspense accounts to identify operational anomalies.
- Coordinate monthly financial closing of accounts.
- Analyze income-related accounts for fairness and accuracy.
- Review the preparation of final accounts and journal vouchers.
- Scrutinize ledger accounts for correctness and accuracy.
- Provide management with reliable reports according to accepted accounting rules and regulations.
Bank and Cash Management
- Assist in the roll-over of deposits and preparation of collateral reports.
- Prepare entry sheets for various banks.
- Reconcile bank statements.
- Supervise Accountants and Cashiers in performing monthly cash reconciliations.
- Monitor and control cash flow management within operations.
- Ensure balance sheet accounts control to maintain reliability and accuracy.
Audit Coordination
- Coordinate with External and Internal Auditors.
- Provide all needed financial records, data, and information to perform audits.
- Ensure accuracy of audit materials.
Tax and Compliance
- Compile and collect financial data for corporate tax reporting.
- Comply with government requirements.
- Adhere to generally accepted accounting and auditing principles and international accounting regulations.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and Abdul Latif Jameel policies.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise Accountant and Cashier roles.
- Conduct performance discussions with subordinates through open discussion.
- Establish Associate's development and performance awareness.
- Mentor and develop associates.
- Ensure associates are provided opportunities for development.
- Chart out career paths and succession plans through Succession/Progression Development Interventions.
- Develop subordinates through on-job training and monitor performance.
Budget and Travel Management
- Support annual budget control.
- Manage the business travel itinerary with respect to business budget constraints.
- Ensure following of travel regulations.
- Communicate travel regulation updates to management and associates.
- Contribute to achieving business budget targets through controlling monthly and annual reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a related field.

- English for Business required; Arabic preferable.
