Role Overview

American International University Kuwait invites applications for a Full Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor position in Interior Design. The role is based at the university's campus in Kuwait.

Role Purpose

To deliver excellence in interior design education through teaching, scholarly activity, and service to the university community while contributing to the advancement of the discipline and mentoring students in interior design practice and theory.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Course Development

• Teach interior design courses across the curriculum at the assigned academic level.
• Develop and refine course materials, syllabi, and pedagogical approaches aligned with program objectives.
• Design studio-based learning experiences that integrate theory and professional practice.

Scholarly Activity and Research

• Conduct scholarly research and creative work in interior design disciplines.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present work at professional conferences.
• Pursue grant funding and external partnerships to support research initiatives.

Service and Leadership

• Serve on departmental and university committees and task forces.
• Contribute to program development and curriculum review processes.
• Mentor students in their academic and professional development.
• Engage with the broader interior design community and professional organizations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Terminal degree (Ph.D., D.M.A., or equivalent) in Interior Design, Architecture, or closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise and experience in interior design education and practice.
• Strong record of scholarly activity appropriate to the rank (Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor).
• Professional licensure or equivalent credentials in interior design or related field.

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in interior design theory, history, sustainability, and contemporary practice.
• Proficiency in design software and visualization tools.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to mentor and guide students effectively.
