Role Overview

American International University Kuwait seeks to hire a Full Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor of Humanities. The position is based at the university in Kuwait.

Role Purpose

The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate humanities courses, contribute to curriculum development and scholarly research, and support the mission of the university through service to the institution and academic community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

• Teach assigned undergraduate and graduate humanities courses according to departmental and university curriculum.
• Develop course materials and maintain high standards of instruction.
• Hold office hours and provide student academic support.

Scholarship & Research

• Conduct scholarly research and publish findings in peer-reviewed venues.
• Present work at academic conferences and professional meetings.
• Pursue grants and funding opportunities to support research.

Service & Governance

• Serve on department and university committees.
• Participate in departmental governance and decision-making.
• Contribute to professional associations and the broader academic community.
• Support student recruitment, retention, and mentoring activities.

Curriculum Development

• Participate in designing and revising humanities curriculum.
• Align courses with institutional learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Earned doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in Humanities or a related field.
• Demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness at the university level.
• Established or emerging research or creative record appropriate to the rank applied for.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
