Role Overview

Full Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at American International University Kuwait, located in Kuwait.

Role Purpose

Lead the academic and professional development of graphic design students through teaching, mentorship, and scholarship. Advance the discipline through research, publication, and creative practice while contributing to the university's mission of international education and innovation in design.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum

• Teach core and elective graphic design courses across all academic levels.
• Design and develop curriculum that reflects current industry standards and emerging design practices.
• Create engaging learning environments that foster student creativity and critical thinking.
• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to support skill development.

Mentorship and Academic Leadership

• Advise students on academic progress, career pathways, and professional development.
• Mentor junior faculty and graduate teaching assistants.
• Contribute to department goals and strategic initiatives in graphic design education.

Scholarship and Research

• Conduct original research in graphic design theory, practice, or pedagogy.
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and design publications.
• Present work at academic and professional conferences.
• Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the discipline.

Service and Collaboration

• Participate in department committees and governance.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Engage with the professional design community and industry partners.

Qualifications & Experience

• Terminal degree (Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts, or equivalent) in Graphic Design or closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of teaching graphic design at the university level.
• Portfolio demonstrating professional-level graphic design practice and expertise.
• Research or creative practice record aligned with academic advancement (scale varies by rank).

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in graphic design software and tools.
• Strong visual communication and design conceptualization skills.
• Ability to articulate design principles and theory in teaching.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in multicultural educational environments.
