Role Purpose

Design, develop and oversee fire protection and life safety systems for a wide range of building types and industries across Saudi Arabia. Lead the design, construction, testing and commissioning of modern active fire protection systems while engaging with regulatory and approving authorities throughout project phases.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Engineering

• Design fire suppression systems including firewater pump, firewater network, sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action), spray systems, clean agent systems and kitchen hood systems.
• Design detailed fire alarm system drawings, wiring diagrams, device layouts, riser diagrams, cause and effect matrices and specifications.
• Develop schematic diagrams for fire water pumps, fire water networks, sprinkler systems, spray systems and foam systems.
• Design and verify kitchen hood fire extinguishing systems.

Analysis and Calculations

• Perform voltage drop and battery calculations using specialized software such as AlarmCAD and Honeywell tools.
• Perform hydraulic calculations using software such as Elitefire and Pipenet.
• Perform theoretical calculations and verify or interpret flow calculations for clean agent systems.

Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare design basis reports for fire suppression systems.
• Prepare submittals, technical reports and system documentation.

Supervision and Leadership

• Supervise designers to draft each fire protection system.

Qualifications & Experience

• Accredited bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
• 7–12 years of experience in design and layout of mechanical or specialty engineering systems.
• In-depth understanding of Building Codes (National and International), Fire Codes, NFPA 1, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 15, NFPA 20, NFPA 22, NFPA 30, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 101 and NFPA 2001.
• Good knowledge of national codes and standards including the National Building Code, Fire Codes, TAC, OISD and local standards.
• Verifiable and demonstrated knowledge of design practices and approvals in KSA for Building Code and Life Safety requirements.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency with AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to present clear and technically sound engineering strategies and assess review results with excellent written and spoken communication.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to engage and liaise with regulatory and approving authorities at various stages of design, construction and handover.
