Field Service Representative

Role Overview

Field Service Representative supporting mission-critical programs at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). Based in Southwest Asia, this role installs, sustains, and trains personnel on tactical electronics and C5ISR systems for the Warfighter.

Role Purpose

Install, integrate, and sustain tactical electronics and gunfire detection systems on military platforms; perform field maintenance and diagnostics; train military personnel on system operation and preventive maintenance; and provide onsite subject-matter expertise in austere, expeditionary environments across the AFRICOM and CENTCOM areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Installation & Integration

• Install, configure, and test Boomerang gunfire detection systems on tactical platforms including Humvees, Strykers, and MRAPs.
• Integrate and sustain EUGS and related battlefield sensor suites; support PILAR or similar gunfire localization systems.
• Execute field wiring, cabling, mounting, alignment, and platform-specific integration.
• Perform firmware updates and system hardening.
• Support secure communications integration and COMSEC handling in accordance with policy.

Sustainment, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform PMCS and corrective maintenance on sensors, microphones, control modules, towers, and payloads.
• Conduct diagnostics, isolate faults, replace components, and execute return-to-service checks.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics; perform board-level repairs as authorized.
• Track and update work orders, parts, and serial numbers using COLTS or similar systems such as RCLS.
• Operate within GCSS-Army workflows.
• Perform minor generator maintenance including oil and filter changes.
• Execute basic power and grounding checks.

Training & Customer Engagement

• Train military personnel on system operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance best practices.
• Provide onsite subject-matter expertise.
• Document procedures and produce reports.
• Communicate status to leads and stakeholders.
• Professionally interface with customers and peers.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and clear written and verbal communication.

Site Surveys, Logistics & Compliance

• Conduct site surveys to determine system placement and coverage.
• Assist with equipping, issue, installation, de-installation, packing, wrapping, shipping, and replacement actions.
• Update databases and maintain accountability of equipment.
• Adhere to Import/Export (ITAR/EXIM) compliance requirements.
• Comply with contract-specified PPE usage standards.

Deployment & Travel

• Provide sustainment across AFRICOM and CENTCOM areas of responsibility.
• Travel via military and commercial conveyances to outlying locations.
• Support extended 84-hour work weeks as mission requires.
• Operate in austere, expeditionary environments with seasonal extremes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Active U.S. Secret clearance; ability to maintain Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree or higher with 5–8 years of relevant experience; or Associate degree with 3–5 years; or High School diploma with 4–10 years (additional current technical certifications may be considered in lieu of degree per contract and leadership approval).
• Five or more years of related experience in field installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and RF-based systems.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• U.S. passport with 2 or more years validity and 4 consecutive blank pages for visas.
• Ability to meet CRC medical and deployment requirements.
• Prior military service in U.S. Army, USMC, or SOF in C5ISR, communications, or combat support roles (preferred).

Skills & Competencies

• Diagnostics and troubleshooting of tactical electronics and RF-based systems.
• Field installation, integration, and maintenance operations.
• Hands-on repair and component replacement skills.
• Proficiency reading schematics and technical diagrams.
• Use of hardware and software diagnostic tools.
• Working knowledge of COMSEC protocols and secure communications integration.
• Experience updating and tracking work orders in COLTS/RCLS systems.
• GCSS-Army system operation.
• Microsoft Office proficiency including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to produce clear data and technical reports.
• Strong organization and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Operational familiarity with Boomerang, PILAR, or similar gunfire detection and localization systems (preferred).
• Experience with Force Protection and Elevated Sensors such as BETSS-C suite (FPS, RDISS, Cerberus), RAID towers, Aerostats, Radar, FLIR Star Safire, PTP radios, television and other communications and surveillance components (preferred).
• IT networking and network security background (preferred).
• 8570 certifications such as Security+ (desired).
• BETSS-C/RAID Tower training and certifications; current BETSS-C Certificate and Tower/Restring certifications strongly preferred.
• Land Warrior integration experience (preferred).

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

• Color definition, depth perception, and field of vision sufficient for inspections and alignments.
• Ability to work around vibration and hazards.
• Ability to operate in non-climate-controlled environments.

• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.

Additional Information

Contract & Deployment

• This is a pipelining requisition for future opportunities.
• Full-time, on customer site in Southwest Asia.
• Work schedule: typically 12 hours per day, 7 days per week (up to 84 hours per week) as mission requires.
• Travel 10–25% required throughout Southwest Asia and potentially AFRICOM and CENTCOM areas of responsibility.
• CONUS training may be required prior to deployment.
• Work location: Kuwait City, Camp Arifjan (APC150).
• Onsite work required; no telecommuting options.

Compensation & Benefits

• Likely salary range: $72,877–$98,599; salary set based on experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements.
• Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses as well as location.
• International assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits above base salary.
