Engineering Supervisor

Role Overview

Engineering Supervisor at IHG Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Riyadh Rose Yard. The successful candidate will supervise daily maintenance operations of the hotel, ensuring all building systems, equipment, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards in line with IHG brand standards.

Role Purpose

Oversee engineering technicians, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and support the delivery of a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for guests and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Team Supervision

• Supervise the daily activities of the engineering team, ensuring maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Assign daily work orders, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of maintenance requests.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance to technicians during repairs and maintenance activities.

Maintenance Operations

• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, kitchen, and building systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and plant rooms to identify maintenance requirements.
• Monitor the condition of hotel equipment and recommend repairs, replacements, or improvements when necessary.
• Ensure engineering tools, equipment, and spare parts are properly maintained and available for operational needs.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, hotel policies, local regulations, and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Monitor contractor work when assigned, ensuring compliance with hotel standards and safety requirements.

Cross-Departmental Coordination

• Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Security, and other departments to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities.

Documentation & Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and preventive maintenance schedules.

Strategic Support

• Promote energy conservation initiatives and support sustainability programs throughout the hotel.
• Support the Chief Engineer and Duty Engineer with departmental projects, audits, and operational improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of engineering maintenance experience.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably within a hotel environment.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent troubleshooting, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team supervision abilities.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/BMS) is an advantage.
• Good command of English; Arabic is an advantage.
