Engineer - Field Testing

Role Overview

Field Testing Engineer with GE VERNOVA, supporting the component design and development engineering organization within the GE gas power Engineering division, India. The role is based regionally to cover customer field tests, primarily in the Middle East region.

Role Purpose

Support all regional customer field tests by executing instrumentation, data collection, and material analysis at customer sites and laboratory facilities. Deliver quality test data and documentation in compliance with procedures and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Field Testing & Execution

• Execute regional field tests and laboratory test support activities.
• Conduct field testing at customer sites by placing instrumentation, routing cables, interfacing data acquisition equipment, operating software, and preparing traceable documentation to collect quality test data as per procedures.
• Serve as point of contact for test procedure development of field samples according to regional and business needs.
• Update processes in alignment with international procedures.

Laboratory Operations & Design

• Design and construct lab test facilities, test rigs, instrumentation systems, and operate relevant test software.
• Perform periodic calibrations and maintain test equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.

Reporting & Documentation

• Report test results and daily site activities promptly to associated stakeholders.
• Generate reports following lab test processes and protocols.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Work safely by adhering to all safety and EHS guidelines.
• Participate in audits, maintain logs, and close open issues.
• Upgrade knowledge as needed and propose ideas for simplification.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Material, Instrumentation, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in field and/or lab testing, handling instrumentation, and/or working with testing procedures.
• Legal right to work in GCC without company sponsorship or time restriction.

Skills & Competencies

• MS Office proficiency.
• Fluency in English.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

Desired Characteristics

• Master's degree in Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering.
• Experience handling laboratory analytical and data acquisition equipment.
• Presentation and communication skills in Arabic.
• Eagerness to learn new technology, software tools, and relevant domains.
• Awareness of different sensor types, working principles, and usage scenarios.
• Knowledge of lab quality certification and documentation.
• Working knowledge of test software such as LabVIEW or coding languages such as C/C++ or Python.
• Knowledge of 5S methodology.
• Active engagement with AI tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

Additional Information

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites in GCC and globally.
