Role Overview
Employee Relations Specialist at Khalifa University, serving as a first point of contact providing support to management and employees through analysis and interpretation of University policies and procedures, review and resolution of employee requests, and objective assistance in problem-solving.
Role Purpose
The Employee Relations Specialist exists to foster effective working relationships, provide expert guidance on policy and procedural matters, resolve employee and manager inquiries, and maintain a positive employee relations climate across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Support & Guidance
- Serve as first point of contact for employees and managers seeking advice on employee relations matters.
- Assist employees in addressing questions or issues regarding benefits, time reporting, or leave issues.
- Provide proactive guidance to managers and respond promptly to employee inquiries.
Communications & Relationship Building
- Facilitate communications and foster effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
- Assist with various employee engagement programs and events fostering positive and effective staff relations.
- Maintain a positive employee relations climate through consistent, responsive support.
Issue Resolution & Investigation
- Participate in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations problems, such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, and employee appeals and grievances.
- Track reviews and consult with employees and department heads on issues related to Employee Relations as appropriate.
- Identify and recommend solutions when repetition of individual problems indicate negative trends, including disciplinary and commendatory actions.
Documentation & Compliance
- Receive, review, and respond to all documentation requests in a timely manner.
- Document all employee relations matters as appropriate for the situation and in accordance with legal compliance and organizational policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
Exit & Engagement Processes
- Coordinate on the exit interview process; prepare surveys, meet with employees, compile feedback, and maintain metrics.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities as needed.
- Complete special projects and related duties as assigned by the line manager.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

- Demonstrate a strong commitment and practice to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or any other related field.
- For Expats: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- For UAE Nationals: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
