Role Overview
Drilling Solution Engineer at Downhole Technologies. This role provides technical support and expertise in drilling operations, working closely with clients, drilling engineers, and team members to ensure successful execution of drilling projects.

Role Purpose
To analyze and optimize drilling solutions that maximize operational efficiency and safety while providing advanced technical support for complex drilling projects and contributing to the development of innovative drilling solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with clients to understand their drilling objectives and develop appropriate drilling solutions.
- Work closely with drilling supervisors and multidisciplinary teams to assess drilling objectives, provide technical expertise, and develop comprehensive drilling plans and strategies.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality technical reports, presentations, and documentation to clients, management, and industry conferences, showcasing innovative drilling solutions and successful project outcomes.
Engineering Analysis & Optimization
- Conduct engineering analysis to optimize drilling parameters, such as weight on bit, drilling fluid properties, and drill string configurations.
- Utilize advanced drilling software applications and data analytics to optimize drilling parameters, minimize risk, and maximize operational efficiency.
- Perform post-well analysis to evaluate drilling performance and identify areas for improvement.
Operations & Monitoring
- Monitor drilling operations in real-time and provide technical support to drilling teams on the rig.
- Monitor real-time drilling operations, analyzing data and performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and make necessary adjustments to enhance drilling performance.
Technical Leadership & Documentation
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drilling reports, procedures, and best practices.
- Focus on complex drilling projects and technical leadership.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments in drilling operations, incorporating relevant advancements into project planning and execution.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in drilling or a related role in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of drilling fundamentals, including drilling techniques, drilling fluids, wellbore stability, and drilling equipment.
- Experience with drilling optimization, including the selection of drilling parameters and drilling fluid properties.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic understanding of drilling rig components, including drill bits, drill string, and drilling fluids.
- Familiarity with drilling practices, such as rotary drilling, mud circulation, and well control.
- Ability to interpret drilling data, such as drilling parameters and wellbore conditions.
- Proficiency in basic wellbore stability analysis and drilling fluid properties.
- Proficiency in utilizing and customizing advanced drilling software applications, such as real-time monitoring systems, drilling optimization algorithms, and data analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with drilling software applications for hydraulics analysis and torque and drag modelling.
