Design Manager - Architecture

Role Overview

Design Manager - Architecture at WSP in the Middle East. You will be part of a developer's project delivery team, supporting the design and development of large-scale projects across a diverse portfolio that includes residential communities, mixed-use developments, retail destinations, commercial assets, and hospitality projects.

Role Purpose

Oversee the architectural design development process, coordinate with consultants and stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, coordinated, and commercially viable design solutions aligned with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Design Consultant Management

• Manage architectural design consultants throughout all stages of project development.

Design Coordination

• Review and coordinate concept, schematic, detailed design, and tender documentation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, MEP, landscape, interior design, and infrastructure disciplines.
• Ensure design proposals meet project brief, quality, functionality, operational, and commercial requirements.

Programme & Delivery Management

• Monitor design programmes, deliverables, and key milestones.
• Participate in design workshops, stakeholder reviews, and technical meetings.

Risk & Optimization

• Identify design risks and support the implementation of mitigation measures.
• Support value engineering and optimization initiatives.

Approvals & Reporting

• Assist in obtaining approvals from relevant authorities and stakeholders.
• Prepare design reports, presentations, and project updates for senior management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Architecture.
• 15+ years of experience in design management, architecture, or project delivery.
• Experience on major residential, mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, or retail developments.
• Previous experience within a developer, PMC, or multidisciplinary consultancy environment is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of design coordination and consultant management.
