Department Head - Fresh Food

Role Overview

Department Head - Fresh Food at Majid Al Futtaim, a hypermarket in Kuwait. The role holder ensures quality, range and freshness of goods to attract and satisfy customers, and coordinates communication between Merchandisers, Sales Teams and other relevant service providers within the assigned area.

Role Purpose

To maintain competitive advantage in the Fresh Food department by monitoring strategy, managing supplier negotiations, establishing competitive assortment, tracking competition, overseeing pricing policy, conserving department assets, and ensuring proper stock management and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Competitive Positioning

• Monitor and develop strategy to ensure competitive advantage.
• Stay informed about competition activities in the store's catchment area and take necessary measures.
• Review comparative studies for sections that can contribute to the efficiency of commercial concepts.

Supplier & Merchandising Coordination

• Oversee negotiations with suppliers for internal promotions to enforce the image of discount of the store.
• Coordinate and communicate between Merchandisers and Sales Teams and other relevant service providers.

Commercial Operations

• Oversee the establishment of a competitive assortment offer.
• Oversee commercial policy agreed for the store pricing.
• Ensure the proper conservation, utilization and profitability of the department's assets.

Stock Management

• Ensure proper stock management including stock value, control of out of stock, orders and merchandise deliveries.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 3+ years in Retail Business.
• 2+ years in an operations supervisory role.
