Job description

Role Overview

Dental Assistant at Nahdi. Provides complete chairside assistance to general or specialist dentists during clinical and surgical dental procedures, performing clinical supportive functions.

Role Purpose

To support dentists through efficient chairside assistance, patient management, and clinical documentation, enabling safe and effective delivery of diagnostic, operative, surgical, and specialized dental procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Chairside Support

  • Assist the dentist during diagnostic, operative, surgical, periodontal, preventive, orthodontic, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pedodontic procedures.
  • Participate in patient examination and treatment by retracting cheeks and tissues and by irrigating and aspirating mouth fluids without harm or discomfort to the patient.
  • Anticipate the dentist's needs and practice four-handed dentistry to provide efficient operative procedures.
  • Perform expanded duty procedures under the supervision of the dentist as required.

Patient Care & Management

  • Prepare and dismiss patients according to clinical protocol.
  • Instruct patients in post-operative home care procedures as directed by the dentist.
  • Provide post-operative instructions prescribed by the dentist.
  • Review patient's medical history and alert the dentist to significant problems.
  • Assist in updating the patient's history and flag charts to note significant history problems.

Clinical Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform point of use cleaning of instrumentation and disinfect equipment.
  • Maintain supply orders.
  • Maintain applicable records.

Documentation

  • Chart accurately the findings of the patient's oral conditions as reported by the doctor.
  • Record the treatment rendered in the patient's permanent chart.

Emergency Response

  • Maintain and periodically review skills learned in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
  • Handle medical emergencies until the dentist arrives on scene or assist the dentist in rendering emergency first aid until additional medical help is available.

General

  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the dentist or manager based on business need.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma
  • 2–5 years of clinical experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Office and Health Information Systems
  • English and Arabic (fluent speaking and writing)

Additional Information

  • Work Environment: 100% indoors
  • Working Schedule: 6 working days per week with 1 day off
  • Working Hours: 8 net working hours according to shift schedule approved by head of department
