Role Overview

Crane Operator at NMDC Group. This role involves safely and efficiently operating mobile cranes to lift, move, and position heavy objects, equipment, and materials according to project requirements.

Role Purpose

To safely and efficiently operate mobile cranes on job sites, ensuring all lifting operations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies while maintaining equipment in optimal working condition.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Safety

• Safely and efficiently operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and position heavy objects, equipment, and materials according to project requirements.
• Set up the crane at job sites, ensuring stability and safety measures are in place, such as outriggers, cribbing, and proper rigging techniques.
• Assess load weights and determine load capacities to ensure safe lifting operations, making necessary adjustments as required.
• Interpret and follow lifting plans and signals from signalpersons or riggers to ensure accurate and safe crane movements.
• Monitor and maintain the proper function of crane controls, ensuring they are responsive and functioning correctly during operations.
• Adhere to all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies, maintaining a strong focus on safety at all times.

Maintenance & Inspections

• Perform pre-operational inspections and maintenance checks on the crane, ensuring it is in optimal working condition before operation.
• Keep accurate records of crane usage, maintenance, and inspections, reporting any issues or concerns to supervisors.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Communicate effectively with team members, including signalpersons, riggers, and supervisors, to ensure coordinated and safe lifting operations.

• Continuously update knowledge of industry best practices, new equipment, and safety protocols to improve job performance.
