Cost Coordinator cum Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview

Cost Coordinator cum Quantity Surveyor at Al Shirawi Group, Vision Wood division.

Role Purpose

Ensure actual material quantity and labour hours remain within budget across projects. Monitor cost drivers and identify savings opportunities through consumption analysis, cost-effective design proposals, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Quantification & Verification

• Quantify materials against approved or submitted shop drawings and tender drawings in line with approved procurement materials.
• Re-verify material quantity mentioned in cut lists prior to issuing to the production floor.
• Clarify and correct discrepancies between cut list quantities and initial quantification in consultation with the production team.

Material Requisition & Tracking

• Acknowledge and confirm Store Material Requisition (SMR) requests raised manually by supervisors and approved by the Production Manager prior to raising through Oracle.
• Record the quantity of each item issued against requisitions in a dedicated register.
• Maintain a separate tracker for material requested and issued to production against estimated quantity.
• Request justification for any overruns and take required corrective action.

Consumption Analysis & Reporting

• Obtain material consumption details from Oracle and man hours reports from the in-house portal.
• Analyse project-wise actual consumption against budget.
• Track availability of off-cuts and their usage.
• Update reports to the Executive Director and Cost Control Manager during weekly review meetings.

Cost Control & Improvement

• Monitor material consumption, man hours consumption, and consumables usage to maximize cost savings.
• Propose cost-effective joinery detailing to engineering.
• Inform respective departments of required corrective actions based on management analysis and comments.
• Submit process improvement suggestions based on observation of the production process.

Additional Information

• Store will issue material only if the manual requisition has been acknowledged by the Cost Coordinator.
• The responsibility for deciding from which drawings quantities are to be taken rests with the Project Manager.
