Role Overview
Cost Controller for mechanical projects in the Oil & Gas sector, focusing on Shutdown/Turnaround (SD/TA) work at ABIS.
Role Purpose
Monitor, control, and forecast project costs for mechanical Oil & Gas projects to ensure expenditures remain within budget and contractual requirements, while providing cost engineering expertise and management reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Monitoring & Control
- Monitor and update cost estimates for projects to ensure costs remain within expected ranges.
- Organize, monitor, and control project costs and define project needs for cost control in accordance with contractual requirements, objectives, and Company procedures.
- Ensure that all project commitments are accurately reported and maintain updated final project forecasts and expenditure forecasts.
Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare and analyze comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between project forecasts and budgets.
- Analyze cost reports and extract required data for management reporting.
- Prepare and report cost engineering information on a monthly basis and when required for management.
- Use statistical tools to analyze cost metrics and perform risk analysis.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with other departments such as human resources, payroll, accounting, and finance to ensure that all costs are accurately tracked.
- Attend project meetings and discussions with external clients if needed.
- Coordinate and work with the project management team to resolve project issues to ensure the delivery and completion of project work.
Management Advisory
- Proactively advise management when forecasted costs exceed the approved budget and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify critical areas and inform management regarding delays in the project.
Contract & Claims Management
- Provide all cost engineering expertise and coordinate activities as group/unit leader as required in preparation of the cost portion of Oil & Gas industry work for Shutdown/Turnaround, Projects, LFC/MFC/EPC Contracts.
- Review and analyze all claims and Change Orders on project contracts.
- Participate in the negotiation of project contracts as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Finance, or Accounts from a recognized university.
- Master's degree in Engineering or MBA is a plus.
- 6β8 years of professional experience in costing and budgeting, specifically in the Oil & Gas sector for Shutdown/Turnaround work.
- Related experience in Oil & Gas maintenance and Shutdown and Turnaround projects.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically Microsoft Dynamics AX 365.
- Statistical analysis and cost metrics evaluation.
- Risk analysis.
