Role Overview
Contracts Engineer at WSP Middle East, based in Jeddah. This site-based supervision role supports major transport, road, and infrastructure utilities projects, managing contract administration, commercial compliance, variation management, claims review, and contractual correspondence throughout project delivery.

Role Purpose
Provide comprehensive contract administration and commercial management support to the Site Supervision team on major infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. Ensure compliance with contract conditions, manage variations and claims, and support the Resident Engineer and Project Director on all contractual and commercial matters.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration
- Administer construction contracts in accordance with project requirements and applicable contract conditions.
- Maintain records of contractual communications, instructions, and project changes.
- Provide contract administration support throughout construction and project closeout phases.
Variation & Change Management
- Review, evaluate, and process variations, change orders, claims, and extension of time submissions.
- Experience managing variations, claims, change management, and extension of time assessments.
- Identify commercial and contractual risks and propose mitigation measures.
Compliance & Monitoring
- Monitor contractor compliance with contractual obligations and project deliverables.
- Review payment applications and provide contractual input on assessments and recommendations.
Reporting & Correspondence
- Prepare contractual correspondence, notices, recommendations, and reports.
- Excellent report writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
Stakeholder Management & Dispute Resolution
- Support the Resident Engineer and Project Director on contractual and commercial matters.
- Assist in resolving contractual disputes and support claim evaluations.
- Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and contractors regarding contractual matters.
- Coordinate with project controls, quantity surveying, and supervision teams to ensure consistency in commercial management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in contract administration and commercial management.
- Strong experience on transport, roads, highways, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience working for engineering consultants or supervision consultants on major infrastructure projects.
- Extensive experience within Saudi Arabia, preferably on projects in Jeddah, Riyadh, or other major KSA locations.
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC and other internationally recognized contract forms.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary site supervision teams.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Additional Information
- Professional certifications and membership of relevant professional institutions will be an advantage.
- Candidates with predominantly building construction, contractor-only backgrounds, design consultancy design roles, or corporate/head office contract administration experience will not be considered suitable.
