Role Purpose
The Commis Chef produces creative and excellent dishes while maintaining high standards of health, safety and personal hygiene. The role requires effective communication with the kitchen team, the ability to execute orders while receiving constructive feedback, and the capacity to remain calm while managing multiple simultaneous tasks. The Commis Chef supports the kitchen operation and ensures guest satisfaction by performing basic food preparation and organizational tasks with excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Production
- Produce creative and excellent dishes that exceed guest expectations.
- Perform basic tasks of food preparation and organization in the kitchen.
- Maintain knowledge of basic preparation, presentation and preservation of food.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate effectively with other members of the kitchen team.
- Receive constructive criticism gracefully and carry out orders effectively.
- Support other team members as they create excellence in their areas of responsibility.
Health, Safety & Standards
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Uphold personal hygiene standards consistently.
- Follow basic hygiene and safety procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School degree.
- Previous experience in a Food & Beverage or Restaurant operations role.
- Knowledge of basic preparation, presentation and preservation of food.
- Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety procedures.
Skills & Competencies
- Passion for teamwork.
- Excellent guest service skills.
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm while executing many different orders simultaneously in brief timeframes.
