Role Purpose

To develop and deliver high-quality psychiatric education, conduct original research in biomedical sciences and/or pedagogy, and support the expansion of psychiatry curriculum in an integrated, systems-based medical education environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

• Develop and deliver courses in psychiatry considering the three fundamental university standards: teaching, research, and service.
• Support and expand curricular development in psychiatry in alignment with other basic and clinical medical science subjects and clinical sciences.
• Actively seek methods, procedures, and resources to achieve course objectives.
• Organize and manage instructional resources, course outlines, and community networks.

Student Support & Learning

• Evaluate and monitor individual student progress and provide feedback to sustain student success.
• Maintain relationships with students that are conducive to learning.
• Provide academic advising for students.

Research & Scholarship

• Conduct high-quality research in psychiatry and related biomedical sciences.
• Publish research outcomes in reputable journals and conferences.
• Develop and lead high-quality research initiatives.
• Engage in scholarly work of very high quality as evidenced by external peer review.

Accreditation & Professional Development

• Support and participate in accreditation initiatives.
• Remain dedicated to continued professional development and scholarship.
• Remain proficient and current in the discipline.

General Duties

• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Basic medical degree (MBBS/MD).
• Earned Ph.D. degree or a terminal clinical qualification (exit degree) in psychiatry from an accredited institution.
• Board-certified in psychiatry and eligible for registration and licensing as a clinical practitioner in the UAE.
• Previous experience teaching in an integrated systems-based curriculum.
• Previous involvement in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Team-Based Learning (TBL) educational processes (development, tutor-guide preparation, facilitation, assessment) will be highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Communicate effectively in English orally and in writing.
• Exhibit strong pedagogic skills.
• Work effectively with multiple diverse communities.
• Demonstrate advanced use of technology in the education process (delivering classes via presentations, using e-learning systems, reports).
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
