Role Purpose

The Classroom Assistant supports individual pupils and groups of pupils both inside and outside the classroom, enabling them to fully participate in activities during the school day and providing for their social, emotional, and physical well-being. The role works collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support academic progress and behavioral development.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Support

• Provide academic assistance to pupils.
• Give group instruction as prescribed by the teacher or provide individual instruction.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Monitor work assigned by the teacher, checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
• Keep pupils on task.
• Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils and report pupil progress to the teacher.

Pupil Support and Well-being

• Provide support for individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in a range of activities.
• Support pupils with additional support needs, such as emotional and behavioral difficulties, and help develop their social skills.
• Supervise pupils in the classrooms and other locations.
• Participate in development of behavior policy and promote pupils' self-esteem.
• Discipline misbehavior in line with the whole school policy.

Education Programme and Progress Monitoring

• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils and groups of pupils and help monitor their progress.
• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Check attendance.

Classroom and Administrative Support

• Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.
• Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
• Reorganize materials at the end of the day.

Health, Safety and Professional Conduct

• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Support the aims of the school; comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation and school policies.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.

Collaboration and Meetings

• Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.
• Attend team and staff meetings as required.
• Undertake other duties from time to time as the principal requires.

Qualifications & Experience

• UAE National.
• Minimum attested secondary school certificate, Diploma, or Degree.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as Classroom Assistant or Inclusion Assistant.
