Role Purpose

Support facilities planning, programming, design, construction, and equipment installation for required project facilities and infrastructure through civil and structural engineering knowledge and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Analysis

• Provide civil design services including preparation of civil and site work drawings, structural evaluations and designs, and water and sewer designs based on existing local utilities and facility load and use.
• Perform all aspects of engineering analysis and design for projects from concept stages through final design and construction management.
• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards throughout project delivery.
• Interpret methods and approaches in developing project calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards.

Planning & Review

• Review and analyze preliminary, interim, and final project plans and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy.
• Review and provide general monitoring on conceptual studies and sketches that indicate pertinent project features, materials, equipment, and specifications.

Monitoring & Coordination

• Review and provide general monitoring on Host Nation funded project development work for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for real property facilities.
• Monitor all project phases with appropriate managers and staff elements and maintain current engineering data for assigned projects.
• Monitor and report on assigned projects and review specifications and schedules.
• Coordinate projects with AFCENT TSG for engineers in other disciplines, operations personnel (Electric, Power Production, HVAC, Structures, Pavements and Equipment, and Utilities shops), and other U.S. Government entities including Wing Safety, Force Protection, Security Forces, Communications, Fire Department, and Medical Group to verify safety, constructability, operability, maintainability, and that all project considerations have been addressed.

Construction & Compliance

• Verify construction for design compliance and assist with resolution of differences between U.S. and Host Nation building code requirements.

Technical Tools & Software

• Efficiently use computers and computer software including Microsoft Office, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs (AutoCAD), project tracking programs (Microsoft Project), GIS, and other engineering calculation software packages to solve engineering problems and facilitate work.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience related to job duties and functions.
• Four or more years of civil and structural design engineering work experience on a U.S. Government or Military installation.
• Licensed Civil Engineer preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems.
• Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply or incorporate into technical documents.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2012 or later; ability to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification desirable.

Additional Information

• Active Secret security clearance required.
• Must be capable of traveling between ADAB TSG and AUAB TSG sites, as required, up to 4 times per year (4 working days, two travel days) to backfill and attend meetings.
