Civil Engineer – Bridges & Tunnels (Emirati National)

Role Overview

Civil Engineer – Bridges & Tunnels with WSP in the Middle East. This role is for Emirati Nationals and offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative and sustainable bridges and tunnels projects across the region.

Role Purpose

To deliver discipline designs to required standards and quality for bridges and tunnels projects, ensure all designs meet regulatory and contractual requirements, and support the project lifecycle from submittals through completion while maintaining health, safety, and quality compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Delivery

• Carry out discipline designs to required standards and quality.
• Ensure that all designs are reviewed to the required standards.
• Stay updated with relevant technical developments within the discipline.
• Provide strong understanding and application of civil engineering principles, bridge and tunnel design standards, and construction methodologies.

Project Management & Compliance

• Understand the contract and scope of project deliverables.
• Support the project submittals and No Objection Certificates (NOC) process.
• Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
• Ensure QMS and Project Lifecycle compliance across team and projects.
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line manager.
• Attend and contribute in team and project meetings as required.
• Input into the work of the Technical Working Group (TWG).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing project requirements.

Strategy & Development

• Contribute to the delivery of the Business Unit strategy, including supporting the company's approach to sustainability.
• Feedback on all business development opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

• UAE National with a valid Family Book.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in bridges and tunnels design projects.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant structural/bridge design tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Additional Information

• Willingness to work on-site and travel to project locations as required.
