Role Overview
Chillers/HVAC Technician at AtkinsRéalis. The role installs, operates, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential, commercial, or industrial facilities, ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.

Role Purpose
To install, test, commission, maintain, and repair HVAC systems while ensuring they operate at peak efficiency and comply with all relevant HSE standards, local codes, and project quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, test, and commission HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, DX units, VRF/VRV systems, split and packaged units, and exhaust/fresh air systems.
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to established schedules.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
- Conduct refrigerant charging, pressure testing, vacuuming, and leak detection.
Troubleshooting & Diagnosis
- Diagnose system faults and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues.
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements for efficiency.
Technical Documentation & Compliance
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, local codes, and project quality requirements.
- Maintain service reports, maintenance logs, and records.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or ITI in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–7 years of hands-on HVAC experience in project or facilities-based environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Experience in GCC/UAE projects preferred.
- Familiarity with international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, CIBSE) preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- HVAC installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of refrigerants and handling procedures.
- Ability to work from drawings and method statements.
- Basic electrical and control panel knowledge.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
