Role Purpose
To establish and maintain effective stewarding department systems and methods of operation that support all colleagues in the hotel, while supervising all stewarding employees, facilities, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Department Operations & Systems
- Establish and maintain effective stewarding department systems and methods of operation to support all other colleagues in the hotel.
- Supervise all stewarding employees, facilities, operations, and costs.
- Schedule preventative maintenance work and coordinate with Engineering.
- Plan and organize work schedules.
Facilities & Equipment Management
- Ensure cleanliness of all facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate inventory control, chemical handling, storage, and stock management.
- Coordinate with hotel colleagues in maintaining par stocks and supplies and approving storeroom requisitions.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure that all staff are acting in accordance with Health and Safety standards.
- Ensure appropriate use and storage of chemicals by all staff.
- Ensure all staff use required safety materials in the safe performance of their duties.
- Maintain sound understanding of occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations and safe workplace practices.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP principles.
- Ensure proficiency in cleaning, sanitization, and kitchen hygiene procedures.
- Ensure skilled operation, handling, and basic maintenance of kitchen equipment by staff.
Environmental & Energy Management
- Play an active and leading role in the energy-conservation and environmental policies and practices of the hotel.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognized food safety certifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP principles.
- Proficiency in cleaning, sanitization, and kitchen hygiene procedures.
- Skilled in the safe operation, handling, and basic maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Experience in inventory control, chemical handling, storage, and stock management.
- Sound understanding of occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations and safe workplace practices.
