Role Purpose
Lead all engineering operations and maintenance for the resort, ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements, optimal equipment performance, guest comfort, and cost-effective delivery of mechanical and electrical services across the property.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Safety
- Comply with all statutory and legal requirements for fire, health and safety licensing.
- Provide all necessary safety equipment required for work to be carried out efficiently and safely.
Maintenance & Projects
- Plan and manage all preventative maintenance work, new projects, extensions, and renovations.
- Provide in-house mechanical and electrical servicing, repair and maintenance.
- Carry out continuous inspections to ensure the highest level of guest comfort is maintained and that all services are in proper working condition.
- Ensure that all maintenance requests are prioritized and dealt with in an efficient manner.
Energy Management
- Monitor the responsible use of energy in the hotel continuously.
- Implement measures resulting in energy cost savings.
Team Leadership
- Develop a team of technically proficient and generally helpful technicians to carry out all maintenance and repair work to standard with technical specifications.
- Ensure well-trained, presentable personnel carry out maintenance works in an efficient, discreet and guest-friendly manner.
Project & Contractor Management
- Act as Project Manager between hotel and outside contractors or technical services on major projects.
Finance & Administration
- Prepare the Engineering budget for the property.
- Provide Engineering input into hotel strategic and operational planning exercises.
- Control all payroll and business expenditure of the department.
- Liaise with People & Culture over all employee matters including recruitment and interviewing.
Professional Development
- Attend seminars and technical exhibitions and read relevant publications to remain current in the Engineering field.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, ideally.
- Not less than five years operating experience in a hotel engineering department.
- Familiarity with the operations and priorities of all other hotel operating departments.
Skills & Competencies
- Fluent English language proficiency.
- Fluent in the language of the local country.
