CHIEF ELECTRICIAN

Role Overview

Chief Electrician at Nabors. This position is part of the engineering team working under the supervision of the Toolpusher.

Role Purpose

Lead electrical maintenance, repair, and oversight across all rig systems including deck equipment, drilling equipment, engine room, and living quarters. Serve as a self-starter willing to assist other team members and coordinate with the Mechanic, Motorman, and Welder.

Key Responsibilities

Deck Equipment

• Maintain and repair leg depth indicator systems.
• Service A.C. motors that drive elevator motor units (jacking).
• Service A.C. motors that drive skidder gear units (longitude and transverse).
• Service A.C. motors that drive raw water tour gear units.
• Service A.C. motors that drive raw water pumps.
• Maintain and repair electric cranes and controls.

Drilling Equipment

• Maintain and repair electrical brakes on drilling equipment.
• Maintain and repair drilling equipment control console.
• Maintain and repair mud pump control console.
• Service A.C. motors that drive draw-works clutch and brake cooling pump.
• Service A.C. motors that drive crane systems.
• Service A.C. motors that drive draw-works drive blower.
• Service A.C. motors that drive rotary table drive blower.
• Service A.C. motors that drive rig floor hydraulic power unit.
• Service A.C. motors that drive bulk air compressor.
• Service A.C. motors that drive mud mixer.
• Service A.C. motors that drive hopper pump.
• Service A.C. motors that drive shale shaker.
• Service A.C. motors that drive degasser pump.
• Service A.C. motors that drive accumulator unit.
• Service A.C. motors that drive desander pump.
• Service D.C. motors that drive draw-works.
• Service D.C. motors that drive rotary table.
• Service D.C. motors that drive Top Drive.

Engine Room

• Service A.C. motors that drive saltwater pump system.
• Service A.C. motors that drive non-portable water pump system.
• Service A.C. motors that drive oil pump system.
• Service A.C. motors that drive air compressor system.
• Service A.C. motors that drive vent exhaust and supply fans.
• Maintain and repair bus, control circuits, and individual feeders.
• Maintain and repair switchboard.
• Maintain and repair A.D. generators.
• Maintain and repair motor generator sets.
• Maintain and repair SCR systems.
• Maintain and repair tachometer generator.
• Maintain and repair engine alarm system.
• Maintain and repair battery charger.
• Maintain and repair ventilation systems.

Living Quarters

• Maintain and repair marine range.
• Maintain and repair fry range.

Qualifications & Experience

• Four to seven years of experience with equipment similar to that used on the assigned rig.
• Minimum 12 months experience with drive systems, if the rig is equipped with them.
• Experience with USCG regulations on electrical systems and wiring requirements if the assigned rig is a MODU classed unit.
• STOP for Supervisor Program certificate required.
