Role Overview

Bike Messenger at NMC Healthcare. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and confidential transportation of medical documents, lab samples, medications, and other essential items between clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities.

Role Purpose

To ensure safe, timely, and confidential transportation of medical documents, lab samples, medications, and other essential items between clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Sample and Document Collection & Delivery

• Collect blood sample boxes from medical centers along with register books.
• Transport samples to the laboratory and hand them over to the office boy.
• Ensure careful driving so that sample boxes do not shake and remain in good condition during collection from each center.
• Complete collections throughout each day according to assigned timings.
• Deliver important documents, passports, uniforms, parcels, and claim forms to respective clinics and corporate office.
• Ensure deliveries are signed and delivered to the correct recipient.
• Collect all lab requirements from the Clinic General Store weekly and deliver them to the clinic.

Vehicle Maintenance & Inspection

• Conduct established safety and operational inspections of assigned vehicle daily.
• Keep vehicle clean, tidy, and in good working condition at all times.
• Ensure regular and day-to-day maintenance checks, including oil change, water, battery, brakes, and tyres.
• Notify appropriate individuals of any delays in scheduled routes.
• Assist with other routes when breakdown or other unusual circumstances occur as assigned.

Safety & Service Standards

• Ensure safe driving practices and high standards of service to employees.
• Maintain current required licenses and certificates.

Occupational Safety and Health Management

• Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies, and safe working procedures.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety.
• Assist with the preparation of risk assessments.
• Report OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues.
• Reduce, reuse, and recycle waste as much as possible.
• Attend all OSH trainings, awareness programs, and mock drills.
• Participate in OSHMS audits and inspections, ensuring standards are maintained.

Infection Prevention and Control

• Read and implement the NMC IPC Policy and Strategy to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times.
• Maintain the strictest hand hygiene standards, including the 5 moments of hand hygiene.
• Maintain bare below the elbows protocols.
• Ensure environmental care to reduce the risk of infection in patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid UAE motorcycle license or relevant local license.
• Proven experience as a bike messenger or delivery rider, preferably in a healthcare or medical setting.
• Good knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations.
