Role Overview

Banking Off Cycle Internship Programme 2027 at Barclays in Dubai. This is a 3–6 month internship within the Investment Banking division for penultimate or final year degree students.

Role Purpose

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the Investment Banking division, gain broad exposure to different types of clients and transactions, and focus on specialist areas while developing technical expertise and contributing to live deals and business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Support & Client Engagement

  • Collaborate on live deals and client pitches to advise on a broad range of corporate clients and deliver holistic, structured solutions aligned with client goals.
  • Manage client relationships and provide customer service support to clients and customers, responding to questions about products and services and processing transactions.
  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate function while building a network of contacts outside the team and external to the organisation.

Financial Analysis & Product Development

  • Develop and implement financial models and strategies that support decision-making in investment banking.
  • Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and manage the deployment and launch of new products and services for investment banking.
  • Perform financial analysis and modelling.
  • Conduct valuation work.
  • Perform industry research.
  • Conduct client due diligence.
  • Develop written materials including offering memoranda and new business presentations.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Partner with other functions and business areas.
  • Demonstrate understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation's sub-function.
  • Maintain and continually build an understanding of how own sub-function integrates with the function, alongside knowledge of the organisation's products, services and processes.

Learning & Development

  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Understand how businesses work and learn from experts in the industry.

Risk & Compliance

  • Take responsibility for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to work you own or contribute to.
  • Deliver work and areas of responsibility in line with relevant rules, regulation and codes of conduct.
  • Escalate breaches of policies and procedures appropriately.
  • Take responsibility for embedding new policies and procedures adopted due to risk mitigation.

  • Perform prescribed activities in a timely manner and to a high standard, consistently driving continuous improvement.
  • Make evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience.
  • Advise and influence decision-making within own area of expertise.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be in penultimate or final year of degree in any discipline.

Skills & Competencies

  • Fluent in English; fluency in Arabic desirable.
  • Keen interest in business and finance and curiosity to learn.
  • Resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience in assigned area of expertise.
  • Thorough understanding of underlying principles and concepts within area of expertise.
  • Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex and sensitive information.
