Associate / Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering

Role Overview

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) at Ajman University seeks a full-time Associate / Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering to begin in the Spring semester 2026/2027.

Role Purpose

Develop and deliver high-quality teaching in Computer Engineering, conduct innovative research and publication, mentor and support student development, and actively contribute to the University's academic mission and interdisciplinary research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

• Develop and teach undergraduate courses in Computer Engineering, including core courses in Programming, Computer Organization, Networks, Network Security, Machine Learning, Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, Embedded Systems, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, and Data Structures.
• Engage in innovative and technology-based approaches to learning and teaching.
• Maintain relationships with students that are conducive to learning.
• Provide academic advising for students.
• Supervise student work.
• Ensure a respectful and culturally sensitive learning environment in all college-focused activities.

Research & Scholarship

• Conduct independent research and publish high-quality work in leading internationally recognized journals and conferences.
• Support collaborative and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
• Provide consultancy services to researchers and the business community.

University Service & Governance

• Participate in committees at the departmental, college, and university levels as assigned.
• Actively engage in promoting the growth of Ajman University.

Mentoring & Leadership

• Motivate and inspire confidence in students and colleagues to overcome limitations to personal growth and success.

General

• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. from a reputable university in Computer Engineering (mandatory).
• Outstanding teaching record in Computer Engineering courses, particularly in Programming, Computer Organization, Networks, Network Security, Machine Learning, Microprocessors, and Microcontrollers.
• Outstanding research and publications record in top journals.
• Track record of collaborative and interdisciplinary research (advantageous).
• Distinguished record in research and strong commitment to service, mentoring, and teaching.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to conduct independent research and publish in reputable journals and conferences.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse team members.
• Familiarity with the Credit Hour academic system.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Knowledge of academic program planning and implementation.
