Role Overview

Assistant Spa Manager at Anantara Hotels & Resorts, Banana Island Resort Doha. A luxury hospitality role supporting the overall operation and management of spa and wellness facilities.

Role Purpose

Support the Spa & Wellness Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining the highest service standards while managing spa and wellness facilities operations, supporting team performance, and contributing to the financial and operational success of the department.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Daily Management

  • Assist the Spa & Wellness Manager in daily operation and administration of the spa and wellness facilities.
  • Monitor daily operations, including appointments, treatment rooms, guest flow, cleanliness, and overall service delivery.
  • Support preventive maintenance initiatives and ensure any equipment or facility issues are reported and followed up promptly.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, hygiene, and overall ambiance throughout the spa and wellness areas.
  • Act as the Spa & Wellness Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations and service standards.

Guest Experience & Relations

  • Ensure all spa treatments, wellness services, and guest interactions are delivered consistently to the highest standards.
  • Ensure all guests receive a warm, personalized, and professional experience throughout their visit.
  • Handle guest feedback, requests, and complaints professionally, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
  • Build strong relationships with guests and encourage repeat visits and loyalty.
  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless and consistent guest experience.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and support therapists, receptionists, fitness and wellness team members, and other spa colleagues.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of spa team members.
  • Conduct regular team briefings and ensure effective communication of operational updates and departmental objectives.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback, coaching, and support to improve performance.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, attendance monitoring, and manpower planning to meet operational requirements.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with hotel, spa, health, hygiene, safety, and brand standards.

Revenue & Performance

  • Support the Spa & Wellness Manager in achieving departmental revenue, productivity, and profitability targets.
  • Monitor treatment bookings, therapist productivity, retail sales, promotions, and other opportunities to maximize revenue.
  • Promote spa treatments, wellness programs, memberships, packages, and retail products to maximize guest engagement and revenue opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports and analyzing departmental performance.

Inventory & Resources

  • Monitor treatment products, amenities, and retail inventory, ensuring appropriate stock levels and timely replenishment.

Industry Awareness

  • Stay informed about current spa, wellness, beauty, and fitness trends and identify opportunities to enhance the department's offerings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Spa Supervisor, Senior Therapist, or Reception Lead in a 5-star hotel, luxury resort, or high-end wellness facility.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Healthcare/Wellness, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in massage therapy, aesthetics/beauty therapy, or CIDESCO/CIBTAC/ITEC qualifications, often preferred, especially for hands-on oversight.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of spa management software (e.g., Opera, SpaSoft).
  • Ability to train and motivate a multicultural team of therapists and receptionists.
  • Strong understanding of spa treatments, wellness services, guest relations, and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of day-to-day spa operations.
  • Focus on luxury hospitality standards.
