Role Purpose

The Assistant Resident Engineer is responsible for site leadership and technical expertise in the execution, coordination, and integration of structural steel systems within overground station buildings. The role ensures construction excellence through strong supervision and seamless coordination across multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Execution

• Lead and manage site supervision activities specifically related to structural steel works for overground station projects.
• Oversee fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, and alignment of structural steel components.
• Ensure all structural steel installations are executed in accordance with approved design drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Supervise and guide inspectors and site engineers responsible for structural steel works.

Technical Guidance & Coordination

• Provide technical guidance on structural steel systems, erection methodologies, temporary works, and constructability issues.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, and inspection/test plans (ITPs) related to structural steel works.
• Monitor interface coordination between structural steel, architectural elements, façade systems, and MEP services within station structures.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Coordinate closely with contractors, fabricators, consultants, and client teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Conduct regular progress meetings and provide updates to senior stakeholders and clients.
• Support resolution of site issues including non-conformances related to steel fabrication and installation.

Risk & Progress Management

• Monitor progress on site, identify risks or delays in steel erection activities, and implement mitigation measures.

Health, Safety & Quality Compliance

• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and quality requirements, particularly during lifting and erection operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 15–18 years of experience in construction supervision/engineering roles, with strong focus on structural steel works.
• Proven experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure or station projects, preferably involving overground or rail stations.
• Strong expertise in structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Strong expertise in temporary works and lifting plans.
• Strong expertise in connection detailing and site tolerances.
• Strong expertise in interface coordination with façade and MEP systems.
• Experience in rail or metro projects is highly desirable.
• Sound knowledge of international codes and standards related to structural steel (e.g., BS, AISC, Eurocode).
• Demonstrated ability to manage site teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced project environment.
• Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and HSE practices for structural steel works.
