Role Purpose

Develop and deliver research and teaching in Artificial Intelligence and its applications at undergraduate and graduate levels, while actively contributing to the department's growth and engaging with industry and business communities.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Course Development

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning Operations, AI for Robotics and related areas.
• Engage in innovative, technology-enhanced, and student-centred teaching methods.
• Continuously update teaching materials and methods to align with AI advancements.
• Actively seek out methods, procedures, and resources to best achieve course and lesson objectives.

Student Assessment & Mentorship

• Assess and track each student's progress and give feedback to support ongoing success.
• Assess and monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain relationships with students that are conducive to learning.
• Mentor and motivate students and colleagues to achieve academic and professional success.
• Motivate and inspire confidence in others (students and colleagues) to overcome limitations to personal growth and success.

Research & Scholarship

• Conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable journals and conferences.
• Contribute to the growth and visibility of Ajman University through teaching, research, and service.

Industry & Community Engagement

• Actively engage in promoting the growth of Ajman University.
• Provide consultancy and applied research support to industry and community partners.
• Ability to provide consultancy services to researchers and the business community.

Institutional & Professional Collaboration

• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
• Establish and maintain effective professional relationships across the University.

Learning Environment

• Ensure a respectful, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning environment.

General

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Reinforcement Learning, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), or a closely related field from a reputable university.
• Outstanding teaching record in AI-related courses.
• Strong publication record in top-tier AI and data science journals and conferences.
• Adequate experience supervising student projects, capstones, and graduate theses.
• A record of collaborative, interdisciplinary, and funded research is an advantage.
• Evidence of community service and scholarly activities.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to supervise student work.
• Ability to provide academic advising for students.
• Ability to conduct independent research and publish in reputable journals and conferences.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse team members.
• Knowledge of academic program planning and implementation.
• Familiarity with the "Credit Hour" academic system.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Experience with AI tools, frameworks, and cloud platforms is preferred.
