Assistant Chief Steward

Role Overview

Assistant Chief Steward at IHG Hotels and Resorts. The role manages daily operations of the Stewarding Department to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, and operational efficiency across the kitchen, back-of-house areas, equipment, and utensils.

Role Purpose

To supervise the stewarding team, coordinate daily duties, monitor hygiene standards, and ensure all kitchen equipment and service areas are maintained in excellent condition while maintaining compliance with food safety, health, safety, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Team Supervision & Coordination

• Supervise and coordinate the stewarding team and allocate daily duties.
• Support staff training, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
• Manage a team in a fast-paced environment.

Hygiene & Sanitation Standards

• Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation in all kitchen and back-of-house areas.
• Ensure proper cleaning and handling of crockery, cutlery, kitchen equipment, and utensils.
• Monitor the use and stock of cleaning chemicals and stewarding supplies.

Operations & Compliance

• Ensure proper waste disposal and maintain a clean and organized working environment.
• Coordinate with Kitchen, F&B, and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health, safety, and company standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in a Stewarding or Senior Steward role within a hotel, resort, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
• Previous supervisory experience is highly preferred.
• Hospitality experience in a high-volume operation is an advantage.
