Role Overview
Art and Design Technology Teacher at Smart Vision School, Dubai, an International Schools Partnership school. This role offers the opportunity to teach Art across Primary, Design Technology within Key Stage 2, and Art and Design Technology across Key Stage 3, with involvement in developing future GCSE provision.

Smart Vision School is expanding its Secondary provision with plans to introduce GCSE courses from Year 10.
Role Purpose
To deliver engaging, high-quality Art and Design Technology education across Primary and Secondary year groups while contributing to the development and expansion of the school's curriculum and specialist facilities. The role includes helping to establish an ambitious GCSE pathway and creating opportunities for students to design, make, evaluate and solve authentic problems through practical, creative learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Delivery
- Deliver engaging and high-quality Art lessons across Primary.
- Teach Design Technology within Key Stage 2, which may include Food Technology, Product Design or another appropriate Design Technology specialism.
- Teach Art and Design Technology across Key Stage 3.
- Create opportunities for students to design, make, evaluate and solve authentic problems through practical learning.
- Promote creativity, independence, craftsmanship and high-quality outcomes.
- Use technology effectively to enhance designing, creating and learning.
Curriculum Development
- Contribute to the development of curriculum maps, schemes of learning and assessment approaches across Art and Design Technology.
- Help establish an ambitious and accessible pathway towards GCSE Art and/or Design Technology.
- Work collaboratively with Primary and Secondary colleagues to develop progression in creative and practical learning across the school.
- Understand how knowledge, skills and creativity should progressively develop from Primary into Secondary.
Facilities and Resources
- Support the development of specialist Art and Design Technology spaces, resources and equipment.
- Maintain practical learning environments to the highest standards.
Health and Safety
- Ensure practical activities are delivered safely and that appropriate risk assessments, routines and procedures are followed.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of practical classroom management, health and safety and the safe use of specialist equipment.
Enrichment and Community
- Contribute to displays, exhibitions, competitions, enrichment activities and wider school events.
- Support extracurricular opportunities within Art, Design and Technology.
- Contribute positively to the wider life, culture and continued development of Smart Vision School.
Professional Practice
- Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
- Be reflective, collaborative and committed to professional development.
- Demonstrate commitment to inclusive education and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, PGDE, B.Ed or equivalent.
- Possess a relevant degree or strong subject background in Art, Design Technology or a related discipline.
- Have experience teaching Art and/or Design Technology within a British Curriculum school or similar educational setting.
- Experience teaching GCSE Art and/or Design Technology would be an advantage, although applications are welcomed from strong teachers excited by the opportunity to help develop this provision as the school grows.
