Role Overview

ARMO Tech - Equip II at Baker Hughes, located at the Qatar Service Center.

Role Purpose

Operate and maintain specialized thermal spray equipment to apply coatings on Gas Turbine combustion and hot gas path components using ABB robotic manipulators, while meeting all Baker Hughes standards and organizational requirements in partnership with the cell leader.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Operate, program and maintain specialized thermal spray equipment in accordance with work instructions and customer specifications.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all machines and equipment as required in accordance with production flow.
• Perform part changeovers and execution of work according to product specifications, drawings and work instructions.

Thermal Spray & Coating Operations

• Perform thermal spray on Gas Turbine combustion and hot gas path components using ABB robotic manipulator.
• Prepare laboratory samples and approve new sprays and processes.
• Prepare components including masking and surface preparation.
• Perform blending and polishing to remove overspray using pneumatic grinders.
• Operate vacuum furnace as required.

Production Support & Flexibility

• Support welding, grinding, assembling, shot peening and bucket moment weight operations as required.
• Work with cell leader in the development of required fixtures for new product lines.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Perform all work in accordance with plant safety rules and maintain highest quality standards in execution of all assigned work.
• Ensure work area is compliant with HSE requirements.
• Maintain full compliance with Baker Hughes policies and procedures.

Digital & Administrative

• Update digital shop systems related to assigned work including Digital Work Order, Time Vouchering and Operation completion.
• Maintain clean work area and contribute towards overall housekeeping efforts.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Five years of on-the-job experience in coatings of gas turbine components.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and coating specifications.
• Operation and programming of CNC equipment or production robots.
• Minimum knowledge of ABB Robots and IRC5 Controllers operations.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong shop mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions.
• Operation of overhead crane equipment.
• Kawasaki Robots programming (added value).
• Proficiency on Robot Studio and Metco Coating Consoles (added value).
• Basic understanding of industrial safety.
• Basic technical understanding of manufacturing equipment and coatings.
• Basic understanding of tool and gauge handling.
• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
