Applied Behavioral Analyst (Sakina)

Role Overview

Applied Behavioral Analyst (Sakina) at SEHA. The Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, and school settings.

Role Purpose

Deliver direct clinical intervention and behavior support to children with Autism and developmental disabilities through individualized and group-based Applied Behavior Analysis services across home, community, and school environments.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Client Care

• Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
• Deliver clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
• Utilize safe and appropriate handling procedures when working with clients.
• Work with clients one-on-one or in a group in a home or center setting.

Behavior Support & Assessment

• Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
• Write behavior support plans and conduct functional assessments.
• Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.

Stakeholder Communication & Training

• Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with client's individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
• Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
• Communicate with teachers, parents, family members, and caregivers.
• Collaborate with treatment team including client, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, Lead Behavioral Technician, ABA Interns, and co-workers.

Safety, Compliance & Environment

• Maintain client confidentiality and maintain and assist in enforcing the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and quality control programs and procedures as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with applicable precautions for environmental safety and infection control, using a series of interventions that minimize or prevent cross infection.
• Comply with and ensure that those directly supervised comply with occupational health and safety at work policies and procedures.

Operations & Governance

• Assume Lead Behavioral Technician responsibilities in their absence.
• Assist in the planning and developing policies that guide the service implementation process.
• Practice within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures.
• Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sections.

Professional Development & Education

• Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
• Participate in training and education sessions for department staff, doctors, and nurses, including teaching, induction, peer review, case studies, and clinical presentations.
• Participate in department programs and committees, various hospital committees, and staff meetings.
• Maintain professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars, or online education units.
• Complete and maintain all regulatory requirements including licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames.
• Ensure all members of the department receive adequate clinical supervision as required for their professional and technical development.
• Ensure appropriate internal and external sharing of information based on governing policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master's degree in ABA, Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience post-qualification in related field.
• Existing or qualified for DOH Licensing as ABA.

Skills & Competencies

• BCBA, BCaBA, or equivalent certification is often preferred.
