APG Technician - General Mechanic

Role Overview

APG Technician - General Mechanic position with Boeing Qatar Incorporated at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This is an international, locally hired position within Boeing Global Services (BGS) Service.

Role Purpose

To assist in maintenance efforts on tactical aircraft by performing complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system work, overseeing assembly and disassembly of aerospace vehicle components, and ensuring flight worthiness and airworthiness compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Inspection

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on tactical aircraft.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems, including engines, airframes, flight controls, landing gear, and weapons systems.
• Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and periodic inspections to identify and rectify discrepancies.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and services on aircraft systems and components.
• Conduct lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to ensure proper operation and prevent system failures.
• Replace consumable parts and adhere to prescribed maintenance intervals.
• Perform validation and verification testing of systems and components.
• Inspect components before installation or usage to verify cleanliness and serviceability.

Component Repair & Replacement

• Remove, install, and align aircraft components and systems, such as engines, landing gear, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, and weapons systems.
• Test repaired or replaced components to ensure proper functioning.
• Conduct adjustments, calibrations, and functional checks to maintain aircraft performance.

Technical Oversight & Compliance

• Lead assembly, disassembly, and modification of systems by overseeing the change, removal, replacement, or upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.
• Oversee assembly, disassembly, or overhaul.
• Configure aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
• Direct troubleshooting of complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
• Oversee validation and verification testing of systems and components.
• Document procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance, including repairs, test results, applicable modifications, and inspection results.
• Inspect components and verify repairs for flight worthiness requirements.
• Adhere to technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations to ensure the highest standards of maintenance and operational readiness.

Supervision & Training

• Lead and supervise others to perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle, such as jacking, towing, and system operations.
• Provide training and mentor others.
• Assign and perform Cross Utilization Training (CUT) as required.

Coordination & Documentation

• Collaborate with other maintenance disciplines to ensure that aircraft are ready for flight operations.
• Document maintenance actions, equipment status, and component life cycles accurately.
• Perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle, such as jacking, towing, and system operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 1 year experience in Airframe, Powerplant, and/or General Mechanics.
• Experience on military fighter platforms such as F-16, F-18, F-22, F-5, F-14, or F-15 (preferred).
• Military or vocational school training related to discipline or equivalent (preferred).
• Basic education such as High School diploma or GED, typically with 1 or more years' related work experience or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a work visa, depending on requirements of the country.
• Ability to meet the cultural requirements of the country, as applicable.

Additional Information

Security & Export Control

• This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
• An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
• This is an export control position; government authorization may be required.
• Employment is contingent upon meeting trade control requirements.

Work Arrangements

• Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime.
• Some positions may also involve rotating shifts.
• Shift Worker (Qatar).
