Role Overview

PMC Lead Pipeline Engineer at Wood PLC, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The position will be located at the client office in Abu Dhabi to support an ADNOC offshore project within Wood's Oil, Gas & New Energies business.

Role Purpose

This role oversees the planning, execution, and management of pipeline construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while optimizing project efficiency for a high-profile client. The PMC Lead Pipeline Engineer will provide technical leadership and ensure delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective pipeline designs aligned with project and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design, Engineering & Technical Assurance

• Lead and oversee the design, engineering, and technical assurance of onshore and offshore pipeline systems in compliance with applicable international codes and standards.
• Review, approve, and take ownership of key engineering deliverables including pipeline routing, alignment sheets, stress analysis, hydraulics, materials, and specifications.
• Ensure delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective pipeline designs aligned with project and client requirements.

Scope & Project Management

• Manage pipeline engineering scope to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Identify engineering risks early and implement effective mitigation measures.
• Drive value engineering, constructability improvements, and cost optimization initiatives.

Technical Leadership & Team Development

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to pipeline engineers and designers, ensuring consistency and accuracy across deliverables.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting knowledge sharing and capability building within the team.

Integration & Compliance

• Integrate HSE and pipeline integrity principles into all stages of design and execution.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure accurate documentation, change management, and proper archiving of engineering records.

Technical Reviews & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and participate in technical reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
• Act as the technical focal point for clients, EPC partners, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
• Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, procurement, construction, and operations.

Construction & Commissioning Support

• Support construction, installation, hydrotesting, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities by resolving site technical issues.
• Support audits, technical reviews, and regulatory approvals related to pipeline engineering.

Continuous Improvement

• Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and the adoption of best engineering practices and tools.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Minimum fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in similar position in a mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing teams of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers.
• Minimum five (5) years preferred experience in the GCC region.
• Offshore experience is mandatory; ADNOC experience is desired.
• PMC experience is required.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Fully coherent in all international codes and standards.
• Working hands-on experience on SPEL.
• Must have working knowledge and experience of electrical discipline relevant to offshore and onshore oil and gas industry codes, specifications and practices.
• Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
• Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn.
