Workshop Manager - Abu Dhabi

Role Overview

Workshop Manager – Abu Dhabi, Al Tayer Group, Dubai, UAE. The role supervises workshop function and assists the Service Manager to implement plans and programs to achieve service targets in revenue, profit, and customer satisfaction.

Role Purpose

Oversee all workshop operations, manage budgets and schedules, supervise technician work, maintain quality standards, and ensure efficient execution of service delivery while supporting the Service Manager in achieving operational and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Financial Management

• Assist in developing and monitoring the monthly schedule of work and associated budget for areas of responsibility.
• Monitor performance against budget and initiate corrective action as necessary to ensure workshop operations are conducted within agreed financial parameters.
• Recommend changes in standard labor time and recovery charges to higher authorities as required.

Workshop Organization & Workflow

• Establish and continuously review the workshop structure, workflows, and job responsibilities with the Service Manager to ensure work is organized and carried out in the most efficient and effective manner.
• Ensure smooth supply of parts to technicians and recommend alternative sources to the parts department when parts are not available.

Supervision & Quality Management

• Supervise the work of technicians to ensure set workshop processes are followed so that workflow, quality standards, profit, and customer satisfaction index are maintained.
• Supervise and submit product quality feedback to Technical Support Specialist for sending reports to principals.
• Maintain repeat job register and provide timely feedback to Team Leaders on trends.
• Analyze the repeat job register and take corrective measures.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Support service staff to ensure timely maintenance of tools to keep business costs to a minimum without compromising safety.
• Ensure all workshop equipment such as car wash and lifts are in proper working condition and periodic maintenance is carried out.
• Ensure special tools availability and conduct periodic audits.

Staff Development & Planning

• Advise Team Leaders and Technicians periodically about ways and means to improve technician productivity.
• Advise on implementation of manufacturer's warranty policy.
• Propose and implement yearly leave plan for workshop staff.
• Organize replacement staff as required.
• Guide and motivate subordinates to enhance performance and produce quality work.
• Ensure subordinates are continuously developed for higher level roles.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Technical) discipline and management qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Workshop Manager.
• Proficient in Autoline, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong technical expertise in workshop operations, warranty processes, and customer handling.
