WELDING SUPERINTENDENT

Role Overview

Welding Superintendent at NMDC Group. This role supervises welding operations, oversees team performance, and ensures safety and equipment reliability across all welding activities.

Role Purpose

Supervise, guide and monitor Welding Supervisors and Foremen involved in daily operations of the Welding section to ensure overall safety and reliability of equipment and crew, and the efficient management of welding activities.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Operations

• Supervise all activities associated with structural and piping welding.
• Oversee Welding Supervisors and Foremen to maintain operational efficiency.
• Monitor consumption of welding electrodes, shielding gases, welding flux and other related materials.
• Report shortfalls and request replenishment ahead of time to warehouse and field engineer.
• Supervise setting up of welding, bevelling and clamping equipment and inspect the same for correct settings.
• Maintain progress and troubleshoot welding-related problems.

Planning & Resource Management

• Identify requirements for personnel, equipment and welding consumables to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate with Welding Supervisors and Foremen, Welding Inspectors and third party NDT personnel.

Procedures & Quality Assurance

• Carry out welding trials and qualify welding procedures.
• Implement applicable welding and QA/QC procedures.
• Maintain welders' qualification validity.
• Train welders as required.

Safety & Compliance

• Conduct toolbox meetings with welding crew and promote safety awareness among them.
• Take necessary actions to establish a safe working environment.
• Ensure compliance in accordance with Company codes and HSE standards.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with client, third party and inspection team on welding issues.

Qualifications & Experience

• Secondary School Certificate with a discipline-specific technical qualification, or equivalent.
